In 2013, through the generous funding of Rand Merchant Bank and the NAC, FATC launched its EXTENDED RURAL OUTREACH PROGRAMME. Since then FATC has extended the reach of its education activities to youth-based projects in the Free State, Mpumalanga and Limpopo. These are all provinces with historically poor access to arts education. The outreach carried out in these areas is based on FATC’s teaching and artistic philosophy, which is one based on the empowerment of the individual and the building of individual agency through the exposure to and practice of the arts. Through this programme FATC has energized, inspired and motivated individuals in these rural areas, thereby positively impacting and revitalizing their immediate communities.

2015 sees the further developing and deepening of FATC’s RURAL OUTREACH through the implementation of the Mpumalanga Arts Project, based at the Rural Dance Centre in Emakhazeni. For more information on FATC’s outreach programme please see our Rural Dance Centre page.
