The Angel Project

Food Programme

Due to the devastating socio-economic impacts of the Covid-19 necessitated lockdowns, FATC initiated a Food and Hygiene Security programme called the “Angel Project” in May 2020. The programme was realised through crowd funding, in-kind partnerships and grant support from the Old Mutual Foundation. Through the project 93 Emakhazeni households in distress were supported with food packs, sanitizers, masks and cleaning materials for a period of 9 months.

The ANGEL PROJECT was set up as a community support initiative intended to provide households harshly impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic some level of relief and resilience. The driving logic of the moment being that, FATCs purpose is driven by the climate we are operating in, and as such, the effectiveness of our programmes, hinges on the two way accessibility of our beneficiaries to us, and of ours, to them. Without adjusting to meet pivotal moments in history, the chances of our relationships and operations continuing beyond such moments, are remarkably threatened.

Safeguarding our beneficiary network, through as basic an act as providing sustenance packs, to scaffold struggling households, has the potential to safeguard the long-term dream of FATC’s to, through a transformative multiplier effect, affect broader systems for good, in order for communities to be sustainable, and for the peoples of those communities to live to their fullest potentials. In 2021 the necessity to contemplate a more sustainable model resulted in the conceptualization of FATC’s small scale organic farming “Agri-CULTURE” project. The Angel Project has now entered its 3rd year of regular support of 93 households in nutritional distress through regular food distribution.
